MD Entertainment Foundation Partners with the 1000 Days Fund to Release a Documentary on “Indonesia’s Silent Emergency”

Jakarta, 28th August 2024 – MD Entertainment Foundation, in collaboration with the 1000 Days Fund, is proud to announce the release of a short documentary titled “Indonesia’s Silent Emergency: Stunting in Rural Populations”. This documentary sheds light on one of the most pressing yet underreported public health crises in Indonesia—stunting, particularly in rural areas. This documentary aims to raise awareness, spark dialogue, and inspire action to combat this pervasive issue that affects the lives and futures of millions of Indonesian children.

‘Indonesia’s Silent Emergency’ takes viewers deep into rural communities where stunting is most prevalent, highlighting the daily struggles faced by families and the long-term consequences for children. Through personal stories, expert interviews, and on-the-ground footage, the documentary paints a vivid picture of the factors contributing to stunting, including poor maternal nutrition, improper hygiene, and limited access to healthcare. The documentary also emphasizes the importance of the first 1,000 days from a child’s conception—a critical window for growth and development that, if compromised, can lead to irreversible damage.

The collaboration between MD Entertainment Foundation and the 1000 Days Fund underscores a shared commitment to addressing stunting as a national priority. Both organizations believe that by bringing this issue to the forefront, they can mobilize communities, policymakers, and the public to take meaningful action. The documentary not only highlights the challenges but also offers insights into potential solutions, showcasing successful interventions and the resilience of communities fighting against stunting.

‘Indonesia’s Silent Emergency’ will premiere on MD Entertainment’s YouTube Channel on September 3rd, 2024.

MD Entertainment Foundation and the 1000 Days Fund encourage everyone to watch this documentary, as it is crucial for everyone to understand and act upon this silent emergency that threatens the future of our nation.

About 1000 Days Fund

https://1000daysfund.org/stunting-documentary/

The 1000 Days Fund is a non-profit with a focused approach to invent and test innovative, costeffective solutions to end stunting—a condition that affects 1 in 3 Indonesian children. We train and equip community health workers with the tools and confidence needed to prevent stunting. The multiplier is that we leave behind functioning village level health systems with the potential to scale. In five years, we have trained 72,669 community health workers, facilitated over 361,017 malnutrition screenings at home, and massively distributed more than 3.5 million smart posters in partnership with BKKBN. In 1000 Days Fund districts, we have reduced stunting rates by 43.5%, saving over 70,000 children from the risk of stunting.
